One of the staples of the Salato Wildlife Education Center is the bobcat exhibit. The two wildcats Salato has on display are a major attraction to their visitors, and they deserve an equally attractive exhibit and living space. In the past, the exhibit had a small stream running through it with a pond at the end; recently, it has just been a pond and a dried up stream due to a few complications. The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation's board of directors are excited to fund this beautiful new stream system for the bobcats!
The new feature will exhibit a small waterfall right below the guest boardwalk and will run along the streambed to end in an updated pond. The new pond will have an advanced type of filtration and pump system to ensure the entire stream runs smoothly for the foreseeable future. The picture attached is the current state of the exhibit and construction will begin after the New Year. This new water feature that has been developed will ensure the bobcats have a more natural environment to thrive in, as wildcats enjoy water in the wild and in captivity.
A huge thank you to all of our donors and supporters, none of this would be possible without you! Check back soon for updates and plan your trip to Salato in the new season to see the updated exhibit!
